I was definitely influenced from all the changes of surroundings and being emerged in different philosophies and cultures. From an early age I was constantly hearing different music and sounds around me, I really learned to be open and listen to understand the world around me.
At 10 I moved to the UK. I learned to play drums with my teacher Tony. I was persuaded to mainly study academic things and do creative things on my own time. I did a lot of sports joining a lot of teams. I was the school hockey captain, which went on to win the Hampshire cup undefeated for two years, which I was awarded school colours for. After school I went to a 6th form college and studied photography as one of my subjects, and managed to get a place at University but didn't enjoy my course and spent most of my time doing creative things instead of the course itself.
It was during this time that I really started to learn about music after years of listening to albums. I picked up the guitar after my uncle passed away from a heart attack and was left in persistent vegetable status, which was a tough thing to see. Music gave me something to focus on besides feeling sad.
In musics I found some solace. I spent years learning and picking up different instruments and learning about sound. After a while I set up Zaz Records and put together and released my first two albums, which was a big step to take. Since then, I've worked on other creative aspects, all of which are showcased on my website ZacZ.com. I use my photography and art in bespoke fashion and prints. I call it art fashion - everything from swimming costumes and shoes to kimonos and t-shirts using the art I've developed over the years as a visual artist.
